This week we’ve experienced some crazy weather! All in one week, I have worn sandals, sat in a basement waiting for a tornado warning to expire, and frolicked in the snow…leave it to Kentucky J
(1) Much of my Snow Day today
was spent at the public library. We have THE best children’s section. It
includes floor-to-ceiling READ letters, a reading gazebo, and a reading tree…so cool. While I was there, I
(2) In school, it has been a
very BIG week. We celebrated out 100th Day of School, Groundhog Day,
took our measurement assessment, and wrapped-up Mem Fox. Tuesday we read Tough
Boris and it was wonderful! It has so many awesome adjectives and was the
perfect time to introduce inferring. As a class we discussed that Mem Fox gives
us many words to describe Boris (massive, scary, gruff) but we can also make
inferences about Boris based on our schema of pirates. Our friends did so well
and the Exit Slips were wonderful – woohoo!
(3) This week in math, we
finished up measurement. Our friends really loved the hands-on aspect of this
unit and learned to use new vocabulary such as – heavier than, lighter than, as
heavy as! We do spiral review during centers, so they’ll get a lot more practice
over the next months.
(4) {FREEBIE} As a reward for making
it through the week (yay you!), I have a freebie. It is an anchor chart and a
survey from my new product – Super Data: Anchor Charts and Surveys for Data Collection. Click
on the picture below to download it from Dropbox!

Oh my gosh, you must MUST get your hands on Petite Rouge- I blogged about it a while back. It's the Lousiana version of Little Red Riding Hood and it is cuuuuuuute!!! :)

Thanks for the book suggestion of Voices in the Park, I'll be checking that one at for sure. When teaching point of view I like to use The Paper Bag Princess and have the students retell the story from the point of view of Ronald and the dragon.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check it out! Thanks for the suggestion AMC :)
