Freebie Friday!

Hi Friends! Happy Friday J Today I am linking up with Amanda and Doodle Bugs to review and show you my week! Plus, I’ve into two sets of freebies. Enjoy!

As I mentioned yesterday, we have been working hard on mastering contractions. We used Love Two Teach’s Contraction Cupcakes on Tuesday. They are SUPER cute and free!

After Contraction Surgery, our friends practiced spelling words on the white butcher paper. They thought they were SO cool writing on the table and they actually wanted to practice!

In reading this week we have been covering Point of View, and we used 3 versions of the Three Little Pigs. We replaced the books in the browsing box (a go-to box for early finishers) and our friends were SO excited. Plus, after reading the different versions, it was cute to learn who our friends think is to blame for the situation. On Thursdays, we assessment POV using a “He said. They said.” center that I created. Our friends did a really good job sorting quotes from the text. I've linked up with Freebie Friday, so click here to download the mini-unit for free!

This week we finished up our lessons with data. Our friends created their own surveys with their math partners and surveyed the class. Firsties pick the most interesting topics for data collection – Bobcats or Bucks? Favorite Hotdog Topping? Jeep or Car? We had students record who they had votes from by writing their initials in the tally chart. It was so funny when they ask my CT and me our votes and then, asked our last name. Wait. What?? Don’t you use our last names like every day hundreds of times a day?!?! hehe J We used some of the surveys from my Super Data pack and we are finishing assessing on Monday. Plus, ‘Make-your-own survey’ will be a fun addition to math centers next week! Click here to download a make-your-own survey for free from Google Docs.

It’s $1 book time at Scholastic’s Teacher Store! This time they have included lots of Junie B. Jones, Henry & Mudge, Horrible Harry, and some precious picture books. My order is on the way, and I cannot wait to share with you my treasures J

Have a wonderful weekend. See you soon,
